This is such a wonderful area. It was so nice to be here before the crowds of summer.

Our view from the cottage we rented could not have been better. We faced Percé Rock and had good light on and off during our stay.

On Sunday we took a tour boat over to Bonaventure Island. Clear skies and cool temperatures made for a pleasant day for photographing the extensive Northern Gannet colony.

On Monday we made our way south to Kouchibouguac National Park. The bugs are thick but we seem to be getting used to it. We will work here for a few days and then continue south.

I had itchy feet. But we hadn’t planned to travel just yet. We were sitting at the kitchen table when I suggested we head to the Gaspé Peninsula for just a little trip. Just us and the bugs…

Now we are in Percé for a few days. Not sure where we will end up after. Maybe New Brunswick? We have some time still to wander.

Lately I have been working with a filter called “The Big Stopper”. It’s a neutral density filter that darkens the image by 10 stops. This allows me to slow the shutter speed way down for really long exposures. I like the look it gives to moving water.
